Receiving a heartwarming gift from someone is fantastic, but it's better to give than get. There's nothing like seeing a smile light up someone's face. When it comes to heartwarming gifts, there can be nothing better, easier or cheaper than creating your own homemade card.
During this COVID season, people could use a kind word or two. That's why this blog teaches you how to write a heartfelt message for any card!

The first step in card writing is making sure that you are in the mood to write. It's important to be in a positive mindset before you commit pencil to paper. Therefore, if you're feeling uninspired or stuck, remember to take breaks. Also, we know that sometimes perfectionism can kick in. Remember that you can tailor a message again and again. It does not have to be perfect, and in fact, messages that are spontaneous and sincere are often the most well-received.
When you're in a good mindset, you'll then have to create opening sentences. Think of to whom you are addressing the card. Will it be one of your family members? Friend? Significant Other? Spouse? Or a stranger? This is important to know because it'll change the way you address the person. Most people start their greetings with a 'dear' or 'dearest,' but you can also begin your letter with a simple 'Greetings' if you do not know the person well.
The third step is to take a moment to brainstorm what your message will be about. Will it be about wishing someone well? Will it be about reminiscing about old memories? Will it be about delivering exciting news? Were you simply hoping to pass a random act of kindness?
It's important to explain the context of the message when you are writing.
Therefore, when you start your message, remember to include details about what prompted you to pick up the pen in the first place. For instance, "I passed by our favourite records store yesterday, and our song came on. It made me think of you," would be a sincere way to explain to a person why you are writing the as it is deeply personal.
When you have a highly personalized opener, it is easy for the rest of the message to develop. Take 1-2 sentences to compliment the receiver or build up your message's narrative by including more details about why the card is being sent.
The fourth step that needs to be taken is reaffirming your relationship with the receiver. Why does your recipient matter to you? An open and honest dialogue is essential; make sure that you don't over-exaggerate your sentiment unless you tend to use flowery language. Your recipient likely knows you, so there is no one to impress.
The last steps are to tie up the letter by giving a closing remark. This can be done by referencing your opening statement. In our example, the sender wrote a card to the receiver because he thought of them while passing by their favourite records store, which conjured thoughts about the receiver. Therefore, an appropriate ending could be, "When you're back in town, let's visit that store together again and catch up by exploring the city as we have always done." Don't forget to sign your name and send off the card with 'sincerely,' 'best wishes,' 'cheers' or 'love.'
